Because of You, My Son Believes in Kindness

It all started with a simple idea: help others and bring people together.

That’s always been D-Max’s mission—from setting up lemonade stands to organizing fundraisers and food drives. On Opening Day this spring, that mission landed him on the pitcher’s mound at Brewer Little League, being honored for his fundraising efforts. His proud stepdad caught the ceremonial first pitch, and I can’t think of a more perfect moment.

But what happened next has left us speechless.

This August, D-Max will be stepping onto the field at the Little League World Series, not just as a Little Leaguer—but as one of only five Community Heroes recognized nationwide. It’s a moment that still feels surreal. To know that his kindness, leadership, and giant heart are being seen and celebrated on a national stage? It’s everything.

As his mom, my heart is full—not just for Dorian, but for the people who constantly show up and cheer him on. His cereal drive started with a goal of 300 boxes in the month of June. By June 30th, the count had soared to 650, thanks to so many incredible people and organizations rallying behind him. The cheering—both online and in person—is the kind of support that sticks with you. It’s the kind that makes you believe in the goodness of community.

I always talk about the importance of inviting others along on your mission—and every time Dorian does, something magical happens. New people step in. New friendships are formed. And together, we create the kind of ripple effect that changes lives.

It’s been amazing to watch, and even more amazing to be part of.

As we look ahead to Williamsport this August, D-Max is stepping onto a much bigger field—but it’s only possible because of the strength and support of his hometown. Every box of cereal, every kind word, every person who believed in him—that’s what’s powering this moment.

Thank you for helping my boy—and so many other children—see the community as a kind and wonderful place.
