Facing the Fear: Pushing Through Self-Doubt to Ask for What You Need

We’ve all been there—wrestling with the doubting, self-downing talk in our heads. Even when the facts say otherwise, the fear of rejection can still loom large. Recently, I was asked to provide professional references. Despite having worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs and seeing tangible results—like doubling sales for a client—I still hesitated. What if no one said yes?

It’s uncomfortable to ask for help, especially when you’re the one who’s used to giving it. And as women, we often shoulder the burden quietly, without expecting much in return. But here’s the thing: carrying the mental load alone doesn’t serve anyone, especially not you.

If you have unanswered questions or fears keeping you up at night, take a few minutes for this simple exercise:

  1. Write down those nagging questions.

  2. Go through your network and identify who could help provide clarity.

  3. Then wrestle with the fear—what’s stopping you from reaching out?

It’s time to smoke through that fear. Send the note. Make the call. Ask for the support you need. Because every time you do, you’re not just reducing your mental load—you’re opening the door to connection, clarity, and growth.

Remember, the act of asking isn’t a weakness; it’s a strength. It’s how we move forward and build the lives we deserve. So today, take that first step. Break through the doubt. You’ve got this.
